Frankfurt Airport offers free, unlimited WiFi across the terminals — no time limit, no payment. It is the quickest way to get online the moment you land, whether to message your driver, pull up maps, or activate an eSIM. Here is how to connect and use it well.
How to Connect (Step by Step)
- Open your phone's WiFi settings and select the official network, "Airport-Frankfurt".
- A login or "captive portal" page should open automatically. If not, open a browser and visit any non-secure http site to trigger it.
- Choose Wi-Fi Free or Wi-Fi Free+ and tap "Go online" to accept Fraport's terms — no registration, no fee, no time cap.
If the Login Page Won't Open
The classic fix: type a plain http:// address (not https) to force the WiFi login page to appear.
Phones sometimes fail to trigger the portal. Try turning WiFi off and on, "forget" the network and rejoin, or visit a simple http page. Disabling a private-relay/VPN feature temporarily can also help the portal load.
Where the Signal Is Strong
The network runs on more than 300 access points across the airport, and coverage is good throughout check-in, gates and the railway stations. In very busy periods speeds can dip — near a lounge or a quieter gate area tends to be faster.
Staying Secure on Public WiFi
- Use a VPN for anything sensitive (banking, work logins).
- Stick to https sites; avoid entering card details on public WiFi without a VPN.
- For guaranteed always-on, secure data, pair WiFi with an eSIM or local SIM.
WiFi + Your Transfer
Free WiFi is all you need to confirm your pickup. With a pre-booked FrankfurtRide transfer, your driver is already tracking your flight and waiting in arrivals — a quick message on the airport WiFi is enough to coordinate. See how it works in our meet and greet guide.
Booked before you fly, your ride needs no airport Wi-Fi at all: the driver of your fixed-price transfer tracks the flight and waits in arrivals — phone dead or not.
