Frankfurt is one of the world's great trade fair cities: Buchmesse, Ambiente, Light + Building, Automechanika, ISH. Tens of thousands arrive through the airport for these dates — and that is exactly when the transfer to the Messe becomes the bottleneck.
The Route
The exhibition grounds lie about 14 km from the airport, on the western edge of the city centre. By car it takes 15–30 minutes depending on traffic; during fair rush hours (8–10 am) often more.

Frankfurter Buchmesse runs from 7 to 11 October 2026 (public days from 9 October). Next come Ambiente and Christmasworld from 29 January to 2 February 2027, with Creativeworld alongside until 1 February; ISH from 15 to 19 March 2027; Light + Building from 5 to 10 March 2028; and Automechanika from 5 to 9 September 2028. Why Pre-Booking Matters During Fairs
During major fairs, taxis at the airport and the Messe disappear fast, and on-demand ride prices climb with demand. A pre-booked fixed-price transfer sidesteps both: your driver waits in the arrivals hall, and the price was set before you even took off.
