Stuttgart — home of Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, and one of Germany's strongest business regions — lies around 210 km south of Frankfurt Airport. For business travellers and trade fair visitors, this route is routine. Here are the options.
Private Transfer: Around 2 Hours
Via the A5 and A8 (or A67/A6 depending on traffic), a private transfer takes around 2 to 2.5 hours to central Stuttgart. Your driver picks the fastest route in real time — if the A8 jams, they reroute automatically.

ICE: Fast to the Hauptbahnhof
Direct ICE trains from the long-distance station to Stuttgart Hauptbahnhof take approximately 1 hour 10 to 1 hour 20 minutes; fares depend on how early you book (check bahn.de). For travellers heading near the station, this is the fastest option. Note: from Terminal 3, add 10–15 minutes for the SkyLine ride to the station. The new underground Hauptbahnhof is still years away: under Deutsche Bahn's revised Stuttgart 21 plan (June 2026), long-distance trains move into the new through station only in December 2031, so ICEs keep using the existing terminus until then.
Watch Out for Trade Fair Dates
During major fairs (R+T, AMB, and others), hotels and taxis in Stuttgart get scarce — the next R+T runs from 15 to 19 February 2027. A pre-booked return transfer to Frankfurt Airport saves you hunting for a taxi at the exhibition grounds.
